Bio/Profile/Yearbook
I was born in 1961 and raised in northwest NSW with two elder siblings. My father was a Postmaster so we moved around a bit but lived for 12 years at Walgett during the 70's and early 80's. Attended The Armidale School (TAS) as a boarder and was Senior Prefect and Head Chorister there in 1979 and enjoyed roles in many musicals and Gilbert & Sullivan productions.
After school I joined the NSW Police and worked at stations on Sydneys northern beaches before moving into the Public Relations Unit in HQ. I resigned in the mid 80's to run a family business (Hotel) at Tumbulgum and after four years travelled to Europe. In 1989 we moved with my new son Rohan, to Armidale where I attended Uni (Arts - Drama, French, Linguistics) and was also employed at TAS as a Housemaster in charge of 60 boys aged from 13 to 18 years! Over the next 10 years I worked in Admin at TAS, welcomed two daughters to our family and continued to sing and act in numerous shows including well known musicals, Old Time Music Halls, and for 7 years was a member of the travelling Colonel Ponsonbery Theatre Restaurant.
In 1999 we moved to Terranora NSW where I was Registrar at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School for 3 years. My kids, Rohan (36), Nicola (33) and Sally (30) all attended Lindisfarne. I left in 2002 and started The Tender Center at Carrara which was a great success. However, due to a serious family illness we sold and in 2004 I again joined the NSW Police this time in an admin position and worked there for 18 years. I now work at HOTA as a Visitor Services Officer in the Art Gallery and Theatre.
It was at their fundraising BBQ at the Tender Center that I met The Blenders and I began singing Barbershop in 2003 and immediately loved the camaraderie and support that defines the Barbershop community. I enjoyed many of their Regional and National successes and numerous fun TV appearances and local gigs. I have also continued to do some acting with community theatre, most notably as Henry Higgins in Tweed Theatre Company's 2010 production of My Fair Lady. I now live in Nerang with my partner Julie and live an incredibly long way from rehearsals - about 400 metres! :)
I have been a member of several quartets including Spike and Forte (both with Mitch Bruger)and placed in top 10 at 3 National conventions. I am a founding member of Sound Connection and enjoyed the success of the chorus at several Nationals before leaving for a couple of years to care for ailing parents. I am now very much enjoying being back and singing with MVP and l look forward to our continued growth and success!
